Message from Chairman

As a result of our quest to continue supplying quality products and services to our valued customers, Seamark (BD) Limited was created and it gives me great pleasure to talk you through some of its achievements since its inception nearly a decade ago.

Seamark (BD) Limited produces some of the best quality value added

seafood products in Bangladesh and in recent years the company has diversified into processing agricultural products such as fruits and vegetables and producing pastry products.

Over the years, we have not only establishéd IBCO Food Industries Limited but also acqjJi#ed an old establishment, STL  Ltd,  now  called Seamark (Holdings) Ltd,  which  includes  a hatchery and three deep sea shrimp trawlers.

Although Seamark (BD) Limited is an export oriented company, it has plans to expand its presence in the local consumer market-a move that we are all looking forward to this year.

Our seafood industry has faced a lot of difficulties exporting into Europe recently, but with the cooperation of the newly elected government and the help of the newly elected committee of the Bangladesh Frozen Food Exporters Association, not to mention the hard

work of the local quality control team for quality             01

control and quality assurance, we are hopeful that these will all be resolved in good time.

On a completely different note, I am also pleased to announce that after a long struggle we’ve finally got our gas connection and power supply for our own gas turbine power generator. We are now able to generate our own electricity. This will help increase our production and better our performance.

I appreciate the continuing support of all our suppliers of raw materials and other kinds of products and packaging, all the contractors and sub- contractors and most of all, our loyal customers who have supported Seamark (BD) Limited in helping us to market our existing and new products.

I would also like to thank my two brothers, Kamal and Bilal and my son Manzur and nephew Rubayeth and all my staff especially those in the accounts and quality control departments for their contribution, dedication, loyalty and hard work, without which it would have not been possible to accomplish what we have in all these years.

My appreciation goes too, to our bankers for their unstinting support and cooperation.

2008 was a difficult year and 2009 is not going to be any different, maybe worse, for businesses all over the world. We are all facing a crisis because of the current economic meltdown but I am confident that with the help and support of my entire management and staff, I can take the company forward and out of this crisis.

Welcome to Seamark.

Iqbal Ahmed OBE
